Important information

In secondary school, our students continue their education under the British curriculum, with greater emphasis on English and reinforcement of Spanish language and social studies.

  • Years 7 to 9: Students follow the British curriculum, with a focus on academic development in English. They will also take two subjects from the Spanish curriculum (Spanish language and social studies).
  • Years 10 and 11 (GCSEs): At this stage, students prepare for the GCSE exams, which include English curriculum subjects, as well as Spanish language arts and social studies. This combination of subjects ensures a balanced education that allows students to obtain a quality education in both English and Spanish.

In Secondary School, students have an appropriate course load that fosters in-depth learning in all subjects, enabling their comprehensive development and the completion of dual qualifications (GCSE and ESO) at the end of their studies.

Why are A-Levels so valued?

With a wide variety of subjects available and no compulsory courses, students have the freedom to choose the combination that best suits their interests and motivations. Furthermore, each subject is assessed and graded independently, allowing students to select their best results when applying to universities.

These courses offer students in-depth subject knowledge, making them excellent preparation for university. However, beyond their academic excellence, A-Levels are designed to develop key skills such as creativity and collaboration, essential for success in today's world.

They are widely recognized globally, allowing our students to access universities not only in Spain, but also in the United Kingdom, the United States, and many other countries.

Secondary education (11 to 16 years old)

  1. The British secondary education system will offer a broad and balanced curriculum with specialized teachers for each subject. This aims to provide students with a well-rounded education.
  2. IGCSE exams are a crucial component of secondary education. These exams assess students' knowledge and skills in various subjects at the end of Year 11.

At Saint Angela International School Seville, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that will prepare students for academic, personal, and professional success in an increasingly globalized world.

Secondary Education: Key Stage 3 (Years 7 and 9)

During this Key Stage, students will be taught by subject-specific teachers. Each year group has a tutor responsible for their academic progress, personal development, and well-being.

From Year 7 to Year 9, subjects are compulsory and taught in English, with the exception of Spanish Culture and other foreign language subjects.

In this Key Stage, they study the following subjects:

  • English
  • Math
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • French
  • Design and Technology
  • Art & Design
  • Music
  • PE (Physical Education)
  • PSHE
  • Computing
  • Spanish
  • Social and Natural Sciences (this subject is taught in Spanish in Year 7)
  • Spanish Culture (this subject is taught in Spanish in Years 8 and 9)

Secondary Education: Key Stage 4: (Years 10 and 11)

This is the final stage of compulsory education, preparing students to take the official IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams. These official exams are taken at the end of Year 11.

The subjects students must take are divided into compulsory and optional subjects, from which they must choose a total of two. These subjects will be taken throughout Years 10 and 11. They are taught in English, with the exception of Spanish Culture and other foreign languages.

Students must pass at least five IGCSE subjects to progress to Sixth Form.

According to Spanish education regulations, passing the IGCSE exams is required to obtain the Compulsory Secondary Education qualification. Validation is direct.
